Manage Subscription (Upgrade, Downgrade, Cancel)

Change your subscription plan, update payment methods, or cancel your subscription. Your subscription settings allow you to manage how your organization uses DocuNero.

Secure Management

Whether you want to upgrade for more features, downgrade to a smaller plan, update your billing information, or cancel — everything can be managed securely through Stripe.

1. Viewing Your Current Subscription

You can view your plan anytime under:

Billing & Plans → Current Plan

Here you can see:

  • Your active plan (Free, Starter, Pro, or Teams)
  • Your monthly scan limit
  • Included features
  • Your next renewal date
  • Plan status (Active, Canceled, Past Due, etc.)

2. Upgrading Your Plan

You can upgrade your subscription at any time to unlock additional features such as:

  • Higher scan limits
  • Approval workflow
  • Advanced OCR
  • Team collaboration
  • More team members (Pro, Teams plans)

How to upgrade:

  1. Go to Billing & Plans → Upgrade
  2. Select the plan you want
  3. You will be redirected to Stripe's secure checkout
  4. Confirm the upgrade

What happens after upgrade:

  • Upgrade takes effect immediately
  • Your account unlocks the new features instantly
  • Stripe applies prorated billing, charging only the difference for the remaining days in your billing cycle

3. Downgrading Your Plan

You may downgrade to a lower plan at any time.

How to downgrade:

  1. Go to Billing & Plans → Upgrade
  2. Select a lower-tier subscription
  3. Confirm via Stripe

What happens after downgrade:

  • The downgrade is scheduled for the next billing cycle
  • Your current plan remains active until the period ends
  • No refunds are issued for unused time
  • Some features may be disabled once the new plan activates (e.g., team size limits, approval workflow, advanced exports)

Scheduled Changes

Downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle, giving you time to adjust.

4. Canceling Your Subscription

You can cancel anytime if you no longer wish to continue.

How to cancel:

  1. Go to Billing & Plans → Current Plan
  2. Click Cancel Subscription
  3. Confirm the cancellation in Stripe

After cancellation:

  • Your subscription remains active until the end of your current billing cycle
  • You will not be charged again
  • Refunds are not provided
  • When the plan ends, your account moves to the Free plan
  • Your documents remain safe and accessible (within Free plan limits)

Data Safety

Your documents remain safe and accessible after cancellation for certain period.

5. Updating Your Payment Method

To change the card used for billing:

  1. Go to Billing & Plans → Current Plan
  2. Click Manage Payment
  3. Stripe opens a secure billing portal
  4. Add a new card or replace the existing one

Changes apply immediately.

6. Viewing Invoices & Payment History

All past invoices and receipts can be accessed from:

Billing & Plans → Invoices

Each invoice includes:

  • Payment date
  • Amount charged
  • Tax breakdown (if applicable)
  • Downloadable PDF version

Stripe Integration

These invoices are provided directly through Stripe for accuracy and compliance.

7. Failed Payments & Account Status

If a payment fails:

  • Stripe retries the payment automatically
  • You'll receive an email asking you to update your payment method
  • Your plan may enter a grace period

Continued failed payments may result in:

  • Temporary access restriction
  • Automatic downgrade to the Free plan

Quick Resolution

Updating your card usually resolves the issue immediately.

Will I lose my documents if I downgrade or cancel?

No. Your documents remain safe in your account for certain period. Some features may become restricted depending on your plan.

Can I switch from monthly to yearly?

Coming soon — yearly billing will be available later.

Do upgrades take effect immediately?

Yes — and prorated billing is applied automatically.

Are refunds available?

No — cancellations take effect at the next billing cycle.
