1. Core Fields Extracted From Most Documents
Regardless of whether you're uploading an invoice or a receipt, DocuNero extracts a common set of financial and contextual fields:
General Document Information
- Document Type: Invoice, Receipt, Bill, etc.
- Vendor / Merchant Name
- Vendor Address (if present)
- Vendor ABN / GST Number (if detectable)
- Invoice Number or Receipt Number
- Categoty (auto-detected whenever possible)
Dates
- Invoice Date
- Receipt Date
Financial Totals
- Subtotal
- Tax Amount
- Tax Rate (if visible)
- Total Amount
- Currency (auto-detected whenever possible)
Payment Information
- Payment Method: Cash, Card, EFTPOS, Credit, etc.
2. Invoice-Specific Fields
DocuNero extracts a focused set of core invoice fields designed to give you clean, reliable financial data without unnecessary noise.
Invoice Data We Extract
- Vendor Name — The business or supplier issuing the invoice
- Invoice Number — When available, extracted from the header or reference block
- Invoice Date — The date the invoice was issued
- Total Amount — The full charge including taxes
- Tax Amount — GST / VAT / Sales Tax where identifiable
- Currency — Auto-detected from symbols or text (e.g., AUD, USD)
- Payment Method — When present (Card, Cash, EFT, etc.)
- Category — Auto-detected, but fully editable
- Record Type — Marked as invoice for filtering and exports
These fields allow DocuNero to reliably structure the essential invoice data needed for bookkeeping, reconciliation, and reporting.
3. Receipt-Specific Fields
Receipts typically contain fewer structured elements than invoices, but DocuNero extracts the same set of core fields whenever available.
Receipt Data We Extract
- Vendor / Merchant Name — Store name printed at the top
- Receipt Number — When available, extracted from the header or reference block
- Transaction Date — The primary date of purchase
- Total Amount — Final paid amount
- Tax Amount — GST or VAT if printed
- Currency — Auto-detected when possible
- Payment Method — Cash, EFTPOS, Card, or other printed method
- Category — Auto-detected (editable by user)
- Record Type — Marked as receipt for classification
4. Line Item Extraction
For invoices—and many structured receipts—DocuNero extracts detailed line items.
Each Line Item Includes:
- Description of item or service
- Quantity
- Unit Price
- Total Price
- Tax Amount (if per-line)
- Tax Rate

Extraction quality depends on document clarity, layout, and scanning method.
Highly Accurate For:

Less Accurate When:
- Photos are blurry or low resolution
- Receipts are crumpled or faded
- Shadows cover key fields
- Handwritten text is present
You can manually correct fields during the Review step, and DocuNero continuously improves based on these edits.
